Any home remedies for a Yorkie with dry skin?

I have a 7 month old male Yorkies and since its getting colder his skin is drying out and he is scratching alot. Any home remedies for dry skin or anything that I could put on it?

Short answer – don’t bathe your dog more than 3-4 times a year, and then only with a mild and organic formula (the following is a cheap recipe without harsh cancer-causing additives)

INGREDIENTS
1/3 cup glycerin
1 cup all natural dish soap (NOT Dawn, Ivory, junk like that)
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 quart water

Mix ingredients into a large bottle, shake, and use as needed.

Also, consider changing your dog’s diet. If you’re feeding anything Pedigree, Purina, IAMS/Eukenuba, or store brands like Alpo, Dad’s, Grreat Choice, Kibbles n’ Bits or anything like that, you are robbing your dog of the terrific health he could be enjoying and setting him up for a lifetime of food-related diseases that could be prevented with proper nutrition. Get your dog on a preferably grain-free diet – after all, wild dogs don’t graze in corn fields all day – like Orijen, Canidae Grain Free, or Evo, or at the very least a healthy food like Eagle Pack, Wellness, Solid Gold, Blue Buffalo, By Nature, or Authority Harvest-Baked. I’ve had great success with all of these, but a grain-free food is the closest composition of what a feral dog and wolves, coyotes, and fox eat.

In the meantime, add some egg (cooked or uncooked) and olive oil to your pet’s food – you should notice a difference in a few weeks.
