Preventing eye wrinkles is relatively easy.  Since you want to prevent eye wrinkles, you also want to avoid irritation, allergic reactions and skin damage.  For eye wrinkle prevention, you have to be careful about make-up and creams that you use on and around your lids and lashes.

Ingredients to Avoid

Mineral oils, petrolatum and paraffin wax are ingredients in practically every cosmetic on the market, particularly the cheaper ones.  These petroleum derivatives clog the pores, cause ever increasing dryness and interfere with the skin’s natural rejuvenation process.

The body naturally produces new skin cells on a daily basis.  The process slows down somewhat with age, but other things interfere with the process, regardless of your age.

Preventing eye wrinkles (any wrinkle really) revolves around supporting that natural process.  When we stop producing new skin cells, our faces start to sag, wrinkling begins, the complexion dulls and we look older, in general.

The first step is to protect the area around your eyes from the sun.Your second step to prevent eye wrinkles is to check your list of ingredients and stop using products that contain petrol based oils.

Step 1:  Preventing Eye Wrinkles

If you’re a tanner, you need to wear large sunglasses.  Your skin’s color may be lighter around your eyes.  But, if you really want to prevent eye wrinkles, you want that area to remain un-tanned, as much as possible.

There is another reason that wearing sunglasses is a good step towards preventing eye wrinkles.  If you don’t wear them regularly, you squint.  Habitual squinting plays a role in the formation of crow’s feet.  Those are the tiny lines that people get at the corners of their eyes.  Of course, you’re not going to get them, because you are going to take the necessary steps to avoid them.

In order to prevent eye wrinkles, you should choose sunglasses that block UV rays of light.  UV radiation from the sun increases the number of free radicals present in the skin’s cells.  If they get out of control, those radicals damage the cells, the collagens and even the cell’s DNA.  This damage causes wrinkling, sagging, the other signs of aging and skin cancer.

Step 2: Prevent Eye Wrinkles

To protect yourself from radical damage, you should use a daily gel or cream around your eyes (and on the rest of your face, actually) that is rich in antioxidants.  They are the only things that will effectively counter the radicals and prevent them from doing damage.

Overall, you will be most successful at preventing eye wrinkles, and other signs of aging, if you use an anti-oxidant cream during the day and another at night.  Most of the new skin cells are produced while you sleep.  A nourishing night-cream encourages the production of new cells, keeps your skin moist and helps prevent eye wrinkles.

Ingredients to look for include coenzyme Q10, natural vitamin E (not the synthetic type) and manuka honey enzymes.  All honey has some antioxidant activity, but the manuka variety is the most active and most effective for preventing eye wrinkles.

To summarize: To prevent eye wrinkles- (1) Watch your sun exposure.  Wear sunglasses that block UV rays of light.  Wear a hat.  (2) Use a daily cream or eye gel at night and during the day.  Watch the ingredients.  For more details on eye wrinkle prevention   see the author box below. Sometimes people have the craziest solutions for preventing eye wrinkles. I had a woman and her husband tell me just last week that the single best way that they have found to prevent eye wrinkles was applying Preparation H to the area around their eyes. After a little bit of research I was shocked to find that remedies such as these are pretty commonplace.

What I think is a real shame is that people have to try to come up with home remedies for preventing eye wrinkles, because the cosmetics industry cannot formulate a product that will give them the results that they are looking for. If you are one of these people who are putting hemorrhoid ointment around your eyes because it’s more effective than the products that you’ve been buying I want to tell you that there are better solutions.

I say this because what you are doing when you use an astringent to prevent eye wrinkles is temporarily masking them. Tightening up your skin for a few hours may make you feel a little better about the way that you look, but it is doing nothing to solve the problems that caused you to seek treatment in the first place. These underlying problems are going to have to be addressed in order to truly solve your problem.

The reason that you have to find a solution for preventing eye wrinkles in the first place is that certain processes in our bodies begin to slow down as we age. These include the ability to produce collagen and elastin, the ability to efficiently remove fluid and hemoglobin from our eyes, and poor circulation. All of these factors play a part in why we appear as we do when we age.

There is a formula that was created by a company in New Zealand that produces all natural anti aging creams and lotions that is able to prevent eye wrinkles by returning these declining processes to normal. They do this first and foremost by providing you with an ingredient known as Functional Keratin that greatly increases the production rate of both your collagen and elastin.

Another ingredient that they use for preventing eye wrinkles is a sea kelp extract from Japan called Phytessence Wakame. What this ingredient does is that it returns your skin’s levels of hyaluronic acid back to normal. This tissue was not lowered by declining production, but instead was being broken down by an enzyme in your skin that the sea kelp extract deactivates.

The return of these three structural tissues is enough to prevent eye wrinkles, but the company goes a little bit further with the inclusion of Eyeliss and Haloxyl. These two ingredients combine to improve circulation to the area, speed up the fluid and hemoglobin removal process, and increase firmness under the eye by thickening you skin there.

Preventing eye wrinkles is better done with the right tools, and through the use of products containing these ingredients you are going to accomplish removing all of your lines and wrinkles, and not just the ones around your eyes.
