Men nowadays would also do likewise in order to get rid of those laugh lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. Everyone is vain about their looks, young and old, males and females. This is especially true if wrinkles come knocking at your doors even before you hit your mid-forties. Fret not, as we can look at some ways to prevent and get rid of wrinkles and to reverse its effect on our skin.</p>
<p>First of all, we need to understand what some of the common causes of wrinkles are so as to avoid them.</p>
<p><span id="more-504"></span></p>
<p>1. Smoking</p>
<p>Smoking is harmful to our skin. It damages our skin tissues and hinders regeneration of collagen. Collagen is partly responsible for the elasticity of our skin. Guess what happens when the production of collagen is affected? Our skin starts to lose its elasticity and sagging takes place. Wrinkle lines appear.</p>
<p>2. Over-exposure to Sunlight</p>
<p>A little sun is good and healthy for our skin. Too much of it, especially ultraviolet-A (UVA) rays, can cause great damage to our skin tissues, particularly collagen and elastin. Deformities in these connective tissue take place and wrinkles are developed.</p>
<p>3. Excessive Facial Expressions</p>
<p>If you like to laugh a lot, or simply have too many facial expressions, then you are the perfect candidate for those wrinkles to appear. Being expressive is a great thing, but wrinkles seem to think otherwise.</p>
<p>Enough is said about the causes of wrinkles. Let us see what we can do to get rid of wrinkles and not give them a chance to affect our physical appearances. Cheers to vanity!</p>
<p>1. Application of Sun block</p>
<p>Sun block with adequate sun protection factor (SPF) is effective in protecting our skin against the harms of ultraviolet-B (UVB) rays. It does nothing much against UVA which is the big time culprit against our skin connective tissues. UVA penetrates deep within the skin. The saying of beauty is only skin deep does not apply here since it is the damage beyond the skin surface that would affect our beauty. Look for sun block that offers protection against both UVA and UVB. Avoiding excessive sunlight is another way to get rid of wrinkles.</p>
<p>2. Healthy Diet</p>
<p>Having a healthy diet would work miracles in our skin. Research has proven that aging can be slowed down and we can successfully get rid of wrinkles if we maintain a balanced diet that is anti-wrinkle.</p>
<p>a. Drink at least 6 – 8 glasses of water daily to keep your skin hydrated. Water is a natural emollient.</p>
<p>b. Eat foods rich in antioxidants like dark green vegetables for instance asparagus, sprouts, watercress, broccoli, etc and fruits like guava, tomatoes and papaya. Antioxidants thwart the oxidation process that magnifies the visibility of wrinkles.</p>
<p>c. Drinking green tea is great as it has potent antioxidant properties.</p>

<p>Every one of us hates wrinkles and wish they would never occur, but aging and wrinkled skin are inevitable. As despairing as it sounds there are solutions available to delay the advent of aging and wrinkles.  </p>
<p>What are wrinkles? </p>

<p>Wrinkles refer to those thin and creased lines that appear on the softer portions of our body like the face, neck and hands and results in sagging skin due to decreased elasticity of the skin.</p>
<p>Are you susceptible to wrinkles? </p>
<p>Along with the natural aging process, exposure to sun, wind and environmental elements cause the appearance of wrinkles in many people over a certain age. But there are others, who are more prone to the attack of wrinkles at an early age because of genetic factors, lifestyle and behavioral choices.  </p>
<p>Individuals exposed to UV radiation from sunlight, either due to their profession or location of residence as well as heavy smokers are especially prone to the early development of wrinkles.  </p>
<p>Individuals with lighter complexions experience premature appearance of wrinkles, while those with darker complexions are less prone to their development. Due to the larger presence of melanin, the skins of the latter group suffer a reduced level of penetration of UV rays from sunlight. Rapid weight loss over a short time span also causes development of wrinkles because of the loss of fat cells.   </p>
<p>Free Radicals and the Occurrence of Wrinkles </p>
<p>Free radical damage is considered one of the most vital source of skin damage and appearance of wrinkles. These free radicals severely harm the skin by breaking down the skins support structures. They diminish elasticity of skin and the resilience of skin is lost and the aging process sets in.   </p>
<p>Antioxidants are meant to reduce the damage caused by free radicals. When antioxidant protection is inadequate in our body, free radicals cause damage. The activities of free radicals can be neutralized through antioxidants abundant in vitamins A, C, and E, beta carotene, selenium, zinc and more.   </p>
<p>Thus by consuming foods and vitamins rich in antioxidants and through the application of skin care products rich in antioxidants, you can stall the process of wrinkling of skin.  </p>
<p>How to combat wrinkles  </p>
<p>NOTE: Always consult your physician first before implementing any new diets, therapies and/or implementing any skin care regimen or procedures, especially if you have existing skin conditions and/or are prone to rashes and/or have sensitive skin and/or are allergic to certain ingredients that may be included in any skin care formulations or are allergic to any components natural or synthetic that may be mentioned. </p>
<p>There is more than one way to combat unwanted wrinkles and creases on your skin. </p>
<p>As mentioned above, topical creams and lotions rich in antioxidants, vitamin A and retinol produce greater results in concealing wrinkle lines. <p>• Wash the face with lukewarm water. Wipe with a rough towel, and apply mixture of cream of milk and four drops of lemon on the face in the night till it is completely absorbed. Bath after about half an hour or wash with water. With daily application for 15-20 days wrinkles are eliminated and black spots too much clean.</p>
